Yixing Teapot

My favorite way to drink tea is from a yixing teapot. A yixing teapot is made of unglazed clay. It gets its name from the province in China where it originates from. Being unglazed the clay absorbs all the flavors and aromas of every pot of tea it brews. The clay literally becomes infused with everything which came before it.

The designs of the pots are varying often animals adorn them. Traditionally the serving cups are tiny, so each cup of tea may be at the perfect temperature. A cup of pu-er tea steeped in one of these pots and served super hot, but not scalding is a simple pleasure in life.

The best place to shop for a set is on the internet. Not the kind of item you would find in a department store. If you like to shop local, find the nearest tea house and show them the love.

I'm also a lover of Yi Xing pottery. I have 9 cups made of the clay. Four are for Oolong, three for Green Tea, and two for Black Tea. I might switch some of them like dedicate some Green and Black cups to Puer. I can still do it because they're only a few months old.

I dont know what a Yi Xing teapot looks like, any pics?
